- - - - - | Antique pr Louis XV French carved arm Chairs Item # 1443 Click HERE to inquire about this item "French upholstered furniture, French upholstered chairs,Antique French Louis XV upholstered furniture c1880 to 1900. Fine pair of matching carved walnut arm chairs in the Louis XV style with a twisted ribbon design.The upholstery is a beige cotton velvet that is in fine condition. The larger chair measures 24 and one quarter inches wide by 40 and one quarter inches high by 22" deep, 19" to seat.The smaller chair measures 24inches long by 39 and one half inches high by 22" deep, 18" to seat.These chairs are far more beautiful in person than they look in these pictures. They are strong and comfortable ! The carving detail is excellent and the condition is the same. They just came in form a local Haddam Connecticut estate. We almost never find pairs of chairs from this period of French furniture design.

- - - - - - | Colonial Revival Bergere Duncan Phyphe style Item # 1472 Click HERE to inquire about this item American furniture,Antique Duncan Phyphe style furniture, Colonial Revival Bergere or chair made of San Domingan Mahogany c 1860 Excellent carving detail with caned back, sides and seat.The cane is in perfect condition.San Domingan mahogany is one of the finest and rarest of all the mahoganies. It was completely depleted by the 1850s.This chair is in original condition. We attributed this fine chair to cabinet maker Earnest Hagen."Ernest Hagen" open his business in1858 forming a partnership with his old friend and shop mate J. Mathew Meier under the firm name of Meier & Hagen after buying out their old employers, A. Dohrmann, keeping it up at the old place #106 Norfolk Street. Hagen worked on many important original Duncan Phyfe pieces. Hagen furniture was made with the same attention to detail and period design that Phyfe used so he was recommended by people needing their period pieces restored or reproduced in exacting detail. Hagen furniture is highly sought after and in many important collections. Please see Nancy McClellands Duncan Phyphe and the English Regency from 1795 to 1830, Measures 25 inches deep,36 inches to top of back,14 inches to seat, flairs from 20 and one half inches at back to 23 inches at its front.
